It's All About Marketing

This week I want you to think about your marketing strategy...

I would say that, "in this day and age," marketing is so important, and it definitely is, but the truth is, it's always been important.

Marketing isn't just about social media. It's something that's been around for quite some time, and is one of the things that keeps society moving, growing, scaling and creating revenue & productivity.

Here's some history on marketing, with a little help from Wikipedia...

The practice of marketing has been known for millennia.

According to etymologists, the term 'marketing' first appeared in dictionaries in the sixteenth century where it referred to the process of buying and selling at a market. The contemporary definition of 'marketing,' as a process of moving goods from producer to consumer with an emphasis on sales and advertising, first appeared in dictionaries in 1897. The term, marketing, is a derivation of the Latin word, mercatus meaning market-place or merchant.

So, now that we've had out brief history lesson for the day, my question for you is, what is your marketing strategy?

1. Do you have a brand?

2. Are you consistent with your brand? Look, feel, tone, voice, message, story, etc.

3. Are you creating value?

4. Are you being informative?

5. Are you sharing your insight?

6. Are you showing up, consistently?

7. Are you engaging with your audience and potential customers/clients in a meaningful way?

These are the questions you should be answering when assessing your marketing strategy.

Now I know a lot of these seem like they're only targeted toward social media, but I can assure you they're not.

Yes, your social media, website & advertising is important, "in this day and age," but so is your personality, your sales energy (which I'll be doing a blog on in the coming months), your demeanor, your intention, your values, and ultimately your product or service.

Since the days of trading and bartering, it comes down to what you are offering - your product or service. But now, more than ever, it's important to focus on how you're marketing your products or services...

Be intentional, adhere to your values, sell with your personality and positive energy. People are flooded with products and services all day, every day, and this means they can get that product or service anywhere, from anyone, but why will they choose YOU?
